Ricon Tools
The SRB tool is designed to be the fastest method of ID finishing of seamless tubing, achieving average metal removal rates of 500mm up to 1000mm per minute. Due to industry demands, the Skiving/Roller Burnishing tool assembly has evolved into a highly efficient combination of Reaming, Skiving, and Roller Burnishing.
The basic principle of Skiving Roller Burnishing is where the skiving tool (a modified floating reamer) produces a geometrically true round bore, which is a prerequisite for successful roller burnishing. To date, this process has proven to be the fastest method of ID finishing of seamless tubing, with average rates of metal removal of 500mm up to 1000mm per minute.
Due to specific industry demands, the Skiving/Roller Burnishing tool assembly has become a combination Reaming/Skiving/Roller Burnishing tool assembly, capable of removing up to as much as 6mm total stock removal in one operation.
Offers a full range of individual or combined Skiving/Roller Burnishing tool assemblies starting at 40mm up to 350mm diameter, and for cylinder lengths up to 12m long. Due to productivity and accuracy demands, this Skiving Roller Burnishing tooling is mostly utilized on stand-alone deep hole drilling machines.

What is the basic working principle of Skiving Roller Burnishing?
The process uses a skiving tool (a modified floating reamer) to produce a geometrically true, round bore. This precise roundness is a crucial prerequisite for successful subsequent roller burnishing.
How fast is the metal removal rate for SRB tool assemblies?
It is recognized as the fastest method for ID finishing of seamless tubing, with average metal removal rates ranging between 500mm and 1000mm per minute.
What is the maximum stock removal capacity in a single operation?
The combined Reaming, Skiving, and Roller Burnishing tool assembly is highly powerful, capable of removing up to as much as 6mm of total stock in a single operation.
What size ranges are supported for these tools?
A full range of individual or combined tool assemblies is supported, starting from 40mm up to 350mm in diameter, accommodating cylinder lengths of up to 12 meters.
How does roller burnishing improve the surface properties of the tubing?
It significantly improves surface finish (achieving Ra 0.2-0.4 on average), increases surface hardness by 5% to 10% or more, improves fatigue life by up to 300%, and enhances overall corrosion resistance.
What are the drive system options for the SRB heads?
The tooling systems support both Pneumatic drive and Hydraulic drive configurations to fit various boring, skiving, and burnishing operational setups.
